About the artist

Matt Dosa
Matt Dosa's career began with graffiti as a teenager.
Over time, his graffiti style evolved from traditional approaches to lettering and cartoon characters to more abstract styles. About ten years ago, he suffered a serious accident that immobilized him for two years. He continues to paint from a wheelchair, every day, out of necessity.
"Art has been a powerful tool that has helped me through a very difficult period," he says.
His graffiti experience led him to think about how small abstract paintings could be transposed into murals. Today, he creates huge abstract works outdoors, as well as smaller paintings in his studio.
He loves working in the studio but can't stand the solitude, so the mix of studio and outdoor painting on walls suits him well. Very sociable, Matt enjoys contact with the public and the physically demanding nature of mural painting. In his opinion, murals also bring diversity; each project is completely different and involves a lot of problem-solving and constant learning. Mural painting involves a lot more iteration, as it's always done in collaboration with a venue, council or customer. In the studio, Matt is free and enjoys working on several paintings at once, with each painting serving as the basis for the next.
